Walk through the custom entry doors and step into a Rotunda Foyer which sets the tone for this stunning house. The configuration of the floor tile is a classical circular design utilizing Crema Marfil with Light and Dark Emperador Marble creating a refined composition of contrast. The Marble is artistically cut in slight pie shapes and rectangles to form the rich and timeless design.

Turn left and the hallway leads to the couture Master Suite which features His and Hers Bathroom Retreats. The inspiration for the Hers Bath began with Crystal Cloud Venato Marble. The subtle movement created by the varying sizes of the Venato is the key to the sophisticated and refreshing feel in the space. Basketweave in Carrera Marble with black dots is featured on the shower floor. The overall effect is a spa-like atmosphere perfect for relaxation.

Enter the His Bath and you’ll find a tailored, masculine haven with refined elements. Durango Stone is placed diagonally on the floor and in various horizontal shapes in the shower surround to depict refined lines and straight edge composition. A border of Antiqued Leathered Dark Emperador surrounds the diagonal Durango and the shower floor is completed in Light Emperador with Dark Dots in a Basketweave pattern. The area epitomizes a warm hideaway with a contemporary opulence.

Joe Turchetti, a lead member of our Hard Surface Design Specialist Group is responsible for these fabulous concepts and they can be part of your own Dream Home Masterpiece when you visit our Showroom. Next week, we’ll give you another glimpse of this spectacular 2012 Dream Home.

Cathy was inspired by the wallpaper choice that the customers fell in love with. After the granite and cabinets were selected, Cathy and Danielle worked together and chose three materials, using them in different ways to accentuate the beautiful wallpaper and granite countertops. The result is a Master Bath that is light and breezy with trendy notes throughout.

The shower features Walker Zanger Paradigm in Ash Grey for the floor. The basketweave pattern depicts the artistic technique of mosaics with a modern feel. Porcelanosa Yakarta Blanco in a 12×35 tile is placed on the shower wall. In a matte finish it has the look of textured grass cloth with a stylish elegance. The finishing touch is an insert of Sonoma Tantrum Slivers Duo in Raffia, handmade, eye catching glass with a natural aesthetic.

Carrying the theme further, the Tantrum Slivers Duo is featured above the vanity surrounding the pair of windows lined in Paradigm Ash Grey Lundy Liners. The floor tile Yakarta Blanco in 12×12 was installed in a 1/3 stagger style to create a unique, subtle pattern. Each nuance was deliberately planned and the result is a tranquil and contemporary balance.

Allow Architectural Brick and Tile to make your design vision a reality. Danielle Noble and our entire design team would be happy to help you choose inspiring selections for your next interior project.

Did you know that changing your light bulb can dramatically change the look of your wall color? We learned that and more at the recent NKBA Event sponsored by Ferguson Bath, Kitchen and Lighting Gallery. The topic ‘Lighting Up Your Kitchen’ was presented by Carla Conway, Lighting Specialist at Ferguson.

There are many types of light bulbs currently available. Trending now are LED and halogen bulbs which are great choices. LED bulbs are cool to the touch and a big energy savings while halogen bulbs are hot to touch but can give real ‘POP’ to a space. Choose whiter bulb light for cool wall colors and yellow light to enhance warm colors. Check package labels if you need bulbs that will work with a dimmer, not all of them do.

Can lights, which range in size from 2-6 inches are a great, basic light. Most cans will give 2-4 feet of width light range and the can diameter should be wide enough for the light to appear on your floor. Cans for task lighting over countertops should be placed about 1 foot out from the cabinets. To create warm accent light and provide a v-shape wash of light place cans 6-8 inches out. If you are choosing pendants over your island, consider 2 inch cans mixed in between the pendants for better coverage.

Track lighting is a good alternative when you don’t have the option of completely changing your lighting. It is versatile, cost effective and comes in many styles. Try rope lighting for accent light above or below cabinets. Outlets can be hidden behind or on top of cabinets and the look can be stunning.

Lighting selections and placement will make a huge difference in your kitchen atmosphere and should be one of the most important elements in your design. Your kitchen is a place of warm gatherings and loving moments. Great lighting will help you enjoy it for many years to come.

AB&T carries Laticrete Installation Products. A 56 year old company, Laticrete offers cutting edge technology and innovative products. Their unmatched performance is one important reason we choose to sell Laticrete.

There are basically two types of grout : Traditional – Laticrete Permacolor and Epoxy-Laticrete Spectralock. Permacolor is a finely sanded, traditional cement based product. This can be applied to floors and walls with a joint width as small as 1/16 inch and as large as 1/2 inch. Used for interior or exterior applications, Permacolor resists mold and mildew and has Kevlar added for strength and durability.

Spectralock Epoxy Grout is another option and has all the great features of Permacolor with an added bonus. It’s stain resistant for low maintenance and high durability and does not need to be sealed. Both products are Greenguard Environmental Institute tested and certified.

Architectural Brick and Tile stocks the most popular colors and all others can be easily ordered. We recommend that you choose your grout when placing your tile order. Our knowledgeable staff will work with you and your installer to ensure you have both the correct type and ideal color to create a flawless project to the last detail.

AKDO is a company synonymous with sophistication and excellence in the Tile Industry and Architectural Brick and Tile is pleased to be the exclusive Indiana distributor for their amazing products. Last week, two of our designers were fortunate enough to attend the first AKDO Partner Appreciation Celebration.

Joe Turchetti, Residential Design Specialist and Danielle Noble, Interior Design Consultant traveled to AKDOs’ corporate home in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Their contemporary showroom and warehouse resemble an art gallery filled with exquisite stone and mosaic products. AKDO has worldwide resources and is a full spectrum business from mining through production all the way to distribution. Known for their stone tiles and handcrafted mosaics, AKDO recently expanded their lines to include porcelain, glass and semi-precious stone.

Of note was a presentation by Tabende Baloglu, a Turkish Mosaic Artist who created her spectacular mosaic art for all participants, The highlight of the event for our designers was a Vignette Design Competition. Joe and Danielle were named best design duo and won the competition out of 80 design teams. Their winning combination included a new product called Lace Stone Mosaic as their feature to which they added Calacatta Marble and Signature Glass. Architectural Brick and Tile is proud to have their talent and creativity on our team to assist our incredible customers.

Interior Design Magazine publishes it’s Best of the Year (BOY) awards each December, the voting is a compilation of thousands of votes and the finals go to a panel of industry judges. The results are then announced at a huge event and published in the magazine that garners over 80,000 readers in print alone. Each year Interior Design receives over 1 million product information requests, as you can see, it is a go-to source for design information.

This year, two of our exclusive lines have been honored as Best of the Year 2011. They are Artistic Tile’s Grenada – Best of the Year for Flooring Tile and Stone and Jamie Beckwith Collection Enigma – Best of the Year Flooring Green. Both are incredible representations of artistry and function.

Artistic Tile has a reputation for fine art in the form of tile. The Grenada pattern is a blend of glass and marble that has been jet cut and fused together to produce an incredible work of art that will grace your space for years to come.

Jamie Beckwith is a fairly new addition to Architectural Brick and Tile, we are fascinated with it’s simplistic design that is created so there are limitless possibilities. Enigma is a set of wood “tiles” that create amazing patterns to make your space as unique and beautiful as you are.

Please join us in congratulating two of our favorite and unique lines. Exclusive to Architectural Brick and Tile and exclusively yours…

Be sure to check out the new Coal Pizza Company Pizzeria and Restaurant located at 36 East Washington Street in Indianapolis. It only takes 90 seconds to watch your own pizza being made in the 900 degree wood burning oven. Pizzas are made with local produce and the menu includes salads, pastas and entrees. They also feature Indiana Crafted Beers.

While you’re enjoying the delicious Neapolitan style pizza take a peek at several of our exciting stone and tile products. Our designer, Pamela Cairns worked with Coal Pizza to choose some great finishing touches for their design. Realstone Accentstone in Midnight Sky is wrapped around three columns bordering the kitchen. Ordered by the panel, the Accentstone offers a subtle contrast of profiles that give dimension and just the right amount of texture to the surface. Used for large or small scale projects, the natural Accentstone provides a variety of colors with an exceptional overall tonal blend. Surrounding the oven, you’ll find Artistic Jazz Glass. Satchmo Sticks featured in the color Red Hot Mama surround the oven in glitz and glamour. Hand crafted from stained glass made in the U.S., these tiles are bold and will energize any space. You can truly feel the hot embers in the Custom Coal Oven.

Stop in our Showroom and visit Pamela. She will be happy to show you Jazz Glass and Accentstone for your next unique project. She would be happy to show you how to use some interesting pieces to really make your space unforgettable. You may even be able to discuss it over Pizza!
